West Africa: Advocacy of Multiple-Stakeholders On Implementation of ECOWAS, GBV, Child Rights Texts Commences

The National Agency for Trafficking in Persons in partnership with the ECOWAS permanent mission has on Tuesday 13th July 2021 commenced training of stakeholders on Integrated In -Country Advocacy and Implementation of ECOWAS Gender Base Violence and Child Rights Texts in the context of COVID-19 Pandemic.

Six days of violent protests and looting have left parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng decimated, which has led to increasing calls for the government and President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare a state of emergency in South Africa.

SERVICE DELIVERY FAILURE ROOT CAUSE OF UNREST

Many have died in stampedes during the orgy of looting that characterised this chaos while others have died from explosions of ATMs. It cannot be ruled out that some were casualties of law enforcers’ frantic attempts to maintain law and order.
