A Global Strategy to Address the Islamic State in Africa

In an important shift, the 85-country Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh is poised to turn its attention to the most important battleground against the Islamic State and its affiliates today: Africa. Though since its formation in 2014, this unprecedented Coalition significantly weakened the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the terror group’s affiliates are flourishing in Africa.
